A series of mandala images created from my hand drawn mandala design.
Brief: I have been intrigued by mandalas for a while, especially due to my passion for mindfulness and decided I would attempt to draw my own. 'Mandala' comes from the Sanskrit word meaning 'magic circle', and is a visual representation used as a focus point for meditation. They are the ultimate symbol for uniting our inner and outer selves, an archetypal expression of the soul. Drawing mandalas can allow people to impose order on their inner confusion and is therefore a very personal and mindful experience.
Solution: I created the first black and white mandala design, working on it gradually over days, using photoshop, smoothing and mirror tools to create a really symmetrical pattern. I then incorporated colours, and patterns on layers to create the more colourful versions to produce a series of four, three of which are available to purchase as prints.
Software and equipment used: Photoshop, Apple mac and Wacom.
